Dental Anesthesia Assistant Intravenous Access Workshop

Description

An applicant for certification as a Dental Anesthesia Assistant must submit to the department proof of completion in multiple areas of training. Based on the number of participants, this 6 to 8 hour program is a rigorous intravenous catheter application workshop designed to meet the WAC 246-817-99005 requirements for teaching the proper techniques used in the completion of hands on experience starting and maintaining intravenous lines with the opportunity of completing at least ten successful intravenous starts on a human or simulator/manikin. This is a versatile program with useful tips, enabling students to learn the best techniques for starting an IV with the ability and encouragement to learn by practicing on real people.

Taught by an experienced vascular access nurse with years of experience placing IV's and teaching others how to do it correctly. On completion of the workshop, participants must obtain correct license or certification in order to be able to perform these skills under a specific scope of practice.

The purpose of this course is for participants to gain a fundamental knowledge about the practice, but you must be willing to participate whenever the opportunity arises.

Prerequisite

Must have completed 8 hours didactic training through IV Nurse Consultants.
